The East Hills Social Committee is off to a great start. The Winter Party on January 6th was attended by 70 enthusiastic East Hills residents who wanted to know what we had planned next. Based upon responses to our survey last summer we have planned a bus trip to New York City for Saturday March 24th.
Here are the details:
- Private 28 passenger bus (Yankee Trails) (which can be increased to a 55 passenger bus if there is sufficient demand). Coffee and pastries will be provided for the trip down.
- Pick up at 6:30 AM at mailbox kiosks in East Hills. Departure from NYC at 7:00 PM with arrival home at 10:00 PM.
- Destination is the Metropolitan Museum http://www.metmuseum.org/ Drop off at the Met and pick up at Bryant Park which is located behind the NY Public Library on Fifth Avenue at 40th Street.
After lunch guests are able to tour the museum on their own and to spend the remainder of the day exploring the city. Planning is underway to arrange an optional dinner at a restaurant which is conveniently located in midtown near the pick up spot. (Details regarding the dinner will be shared as soon as they are finalized. If you have a favorite restaurant in the midtown area near Bryant Park, we are looking for suggestions).
All inclusive prices (except for dinner) is $135 for adults and $125 for seniors (65+). For those who want to spend the day on their own the cost for the bus only is $60. Refunds will be provided for participants who must cancel with the exception of a $50 cancellation fee.
The trip will be open to East Hills residents and their guests. Reservations will be on a first-come first-served basis. Payment in full is required to confirm your reservation. Once we reach the 28 seat capacity of the bus additional names will be added to a waiting list with the goal of chartering a 55 person bus if there is demand. Reservations accompanied by payment should be made no later than March 3rd but we encourage you to reserve right away to assure that space will be available. Please provide your name(s), address, phone number and email address along with your check made out to East Hills Homeowners Association and send it to Carmela Philo at 3 Guilder Court. You can contact Carmela at 250-4879 or cphilo001@nycap.rr.com.
Seems rather expensive, doesn't it....

DeleteThe charge covers the cost of the bus and the fees of the Metropolitan Museum plus a few dollars for coffee and pastries and miscellaneous costs for promoting the event. I checked all day trips on the current Yankee Trails schedule and there is no one day trip that is comparable so there is no basis for comparison. Sorry you find it expensive.
