Are you feeling patriotic? Do you want to show your true colors? The East Hills covenants allow each of us to display the American flag on Independence Day, every other national holiday and indeed, every day of the year!
Please remember to display your flag following appropriate flag etiquette. Because of other covenant restrictions, you need to get a waiver to light your flag for a night time display.
Flag etiquette allows one to fly the flag upside down when faced with a grave emergency. You’ll probably get a faster response by dialing 911. Please resist the urge to make a political statement using this technique regardless if your political sentiments are on the right or the left.
The covenants do not allow any other way to display the flag. Please do not display it from the inside of a window or mounted flat on the side of your house. Please do not install a flag pole of any type into the ground of your property without getting a waiver from the HOA board first.
Finally, the desire to display any other type of flag or banner--including but not limited to flags of other countries, individual US states and territories, political, military or veterans organizations, private organizations and sports team--need to be backed up by a waiver from the HOA before proceeding. Additionally, decorative flags showing holiday/seasonal themes also require a waiver from the HOA.
Let’s all have a safe summer and a great 4th!
