Information Regarding Mailboxes in East Hills


For homes that utilize mailbox kiosks at Brighton Court, Brinker Way or Conway Circle:
These mailboxes are owned and maintained by the United States Postal Service.  If you need a new key to your mailbox, please visit the USPS at 71 Terminal Street in Albany or call (518) 458-9548.  If selling your home, all mailbox keys should be passed on to the buyer at your closing.

To homes with stand-alone mailboxes in East Hills (Bartes Court, Beekman Court, Chatham Circle, Derby Court, East Hills Boulevard, Harvester Court, Hilander Drive, Klaasen Way, Shelbourne Drive and Stoneridge Drive):


As stated in the Affidavit of Offeror (covenants and architectural standards), all stand-alone mailboxes must be consistent throughout the development. The Developer, First Columbia, selected the standard for East Hills (see specifications and model numbers below). The manufacturer of the required mailboxes is Imperial Mailbox Systems.

The following are excerpts from the Affidavit of Offeror regarding mailboxes:

ARTICLE IV
DUTIES AND POWERS OF EAST HILLS ASSOCIATION

Section I. Duties and Powers of East Hills Association. East Hills Association shall have the perpetual duty and obligation and the sole and exclusive power and right (provided that East Hills Association may delegate any or all of said duties and powers to a management firm or other agents) to perform at its cost and expense each and all of the following:

  1. Issuance of Mailboxes. To determine the architectural style and price of approved mailboxes for use in the Residential Property and to coordinate the ordering and installation of said mailboxes upon proper request and payment by an Owner to the East Hills Association.

ARTICLE IV
PROTECTIVE COVENANTS

Section 20. Mailboxes. Only mailbox receptacles approved by the Board of Directors and purchased from the East Hills Association shall be installed on any Homesite within the Residential Property. Such approved mailbox shall be constructed of wood, aluminum or steel (not vinyl or plastic) and shall fully integrate any newspaper receptacle and mail receptacle into one combined unit. This prohibition shall apply not only to mailboxes originally installed with the Home, but also to any subsequent replacement of such mailbox. One mailbox is permitted per Homesite. The mailbox for each Home in the conventional home area designated on the Plat shall be grouped with two mailboxes on a single post. The mailbox for each Home in the twin townhouse and courtyard home areas designated on the Plat shall be grouped together in one central bank of mailboxes, one for each area. The mailbox for each Home in the estate areas designated on the Plat shall be constructed with one mailbox on one post. No additional receptacles for mail, newspapers, or similar deliveries may be installed on any Homesite within the Residential Property. No changes or additions to the original color, decoration, adornment or numbering shall be permitted to any mailbox.


ARTICLE V
ARCHITECTURAL STANDARDS

Section 11. Signage, House and Mailbox Numbers.

(c) Mailbox numbers shall be consistent in size and dimension, font style in accordance with the mailbox approved for installation by the Board of Directors. No additional numbering, lettering, painting or decoration of mailboxes shall be permitted, except for temporary display during holidays and special events. In no case shall such additional markings be permanent.
