Spring Subjects

It's obvious that spring is here.  The trees are blooming and leafing out and our community is again coming to life with outdoor activity.  Then again, there are bugs hatching, weeds sprouting and other less desirable seasonal occurrences.  And it's hard to ignore the damage inflicted by the harsh winter this year.

Which brings us to the subject of home maintenance.  Many, if not most, of the homes in our community are starting to show their age, but because the change has been gradual, it's not obvious to all that work is needed.  Take a look at the framing around your garage door, for example.  Is the paint worn off in places?  What about the driveway?  Does it need to be topped or re-sealed to renew its appearance?  If your home has cedar siding, does it need to be stained?  Does the landscape need renewing or fresh mulch?  Was your yard damaged by a snow plow?  It's a good time to take a walk around your home as if you were  considering buying it or as if you'd never seen it before.  You may be surprised by what needs to be done.

Also worthy of mention is the need to follow the HOA's covenants and restrictions.  It shows we have pride in our community and are willing to follow the rules to keep it looking nice and maintain our property values.

Some of the more common violations are already appearing.  Are your garbage cans and yard waste out of sight until the night before collection?  Do you have a portable basketball hoop sitting out when not in use? Are cars parked on the street overnight? Do you clean up your pets' waste?

Enforcing covenants isn't much fun for the board's volunteers, so we (and your neighbors!) appreciate your compliance.
